Full description
The church was opened in 1906, deliberately designed to reach an exact height of 96 metres to commemorate the 896 conquest of the Carpathian Basin (the same height as the Parliament), becoming the largest church of Budapest. The interior is richly decorated with frescoes and engravings and the exterior is characterised by rich ornamentation and huge windows radiating light and dignity. The public can observe the country's founder and first king, King St. Stephen's mummified right hand kept as a relic in the main aisle.
The Dome offers a unique 360 degree view over the city after climbing a few flights of stairs.
